Work published for retirement as an actor in the French Comedy by Philoclès Regnier.
Personal copy of Regnier in which he leaves some handwritten notes. In particular 4 pages at the end of the book in which he returns to some biographical details and he reproduces a letter received on the anniversary of his retirement: "Some time later, I received from playwrights belonging to the French Academy the following letter which touched me very much, but I did not think I should let it be published "
The dedication sheet to Mme Escalier née Regnier, daughter of the actor was cut out. Probably after the divorce of Henriette Regnier who will marry in second marriage Alexandre Dumas fils.
The frontispiece portrait is Martial. The book is completed by two etchings by Leon Gaucherel, which were engraved for a collection on the comedians of the Comédie Française and a vintage albumen photo of Regnier at his desk.
