Eugène Bouchut (in May 18th, 1818 and died in 1891), is a doctor and a French pediatrician. He studied in Paris, approached the medicine in 1833 and was received doctor in 1843. Named aggregated by the Faculty and the hospital doctor in 1849, He became in 1852 a doctor of the hospital "Bon-Secours", and the hospital "Saint-Eugénie" and "des Enfants malades" in 1856.

François Broussais (1772-1838) was a French doctor and surgeon of the Revolution and the Empire, known at one time as the "Emperor of Medicine" under the Restoration.
He is the author of a new medical doctrine, abandoned after his death, the "Broussais system" which consists in the theory that all pathologies are the consequences of tissue irritation and inflammation.
In this book, Broussais lays the foundations of this doctrine.
