Translated from Polish by the pimple of Solignac.
In 1736, at the end of a war of succession which opposed French and Russian interests, Stanislas I, King of Poland, abdicated.
It is therefore as a free-speaking citizen that he writes his observations on the government of Poland.
Prince philosopher he writes in his preface:
"[our ancestors] established a fair balance between the power of Majesty, & the rights of liberty. They claimed that our Kings by the Majesty of their character, could contain liberty to prevent it from going as far as license, and that liberty, by the authority of our constitutions, could repress the ambition of our kings, if it ever led them to despotism. This salutary order no longer exists.".

Louise Marie Gagneur (1832-1902) was a French writer and feminist activist.
Essay inspired by the publication of Travail by Emile Zola. Gagneur celebrates Zola's novel, which highlights Fourierist ideas "with a power of eloquence, a depth, a philosophical scope, a mastery that make this incomparable book a glorious and victorious stage in our literary, philosophical and social movement" (p. 12).
Marie-Louise Gagneur believed in the transformative power of the intellectual production to which she contributed: "The transformation can therefore occur today without shock, without revolution, by the FORCE OF THE IDEA alone" (Droit au bonheur, p. 12).

French politician, François Cantagrel is a disciple of Charles Fourier for whom he founded the newspaper La Phalange.
He was an active propagandist of Fourierism thanks, among other things, to his Fou du Palais Royal, published in 1841 and which the Fourierists had to republish in 1845, which had a huge impact. This humorous work certainly steered more men towards Fourierism than Fourier's own works.

First edition.
Antoine Fusy, Jesuit and professor at the Sorbonne is at the beginning of the 17th century in breach of ban with his order. The Jesuit preachers indeed defended the merits of tyrannicide, which was an undisguised threat to the King of France who protected the Protestants of the kingdom.
While Henri IV was assassinated by a Catholic fanatic, Fusy went into exile in Geneva in 1619 and converted to Protestantism.
He wrote there this very violent pamphlet towards the Roman Church, whose style is sometimes quite raw.
