Johannes Nider (1385 - 1438) was a German theologian and member of the Dominican order.
His work Formicarius, published around 1435-37, is an important testimony of the history of the witch hunts, as Nider comments upon the superstitions of the Middle Ages on witchcraft, necromancy and possession. The exclusive reference of the Formicarius to witchcraft was however only established by its reception, as it was frequently reprinted together with the Malleus Maleficarum.
