First edition.

This book is a sharp response to Jean-Jacques Rousseau (1712-1778), following the publication in 1762 of his treatise on education, on "l'art de former les hommes" entitled "Émile ou De l'éducation".
The author is totally against Rousseau's thesis on natural religion, and on the contrary, he supports Pascal's theory of the concepts of profig and miracle.
In parallel with theories properly pedagogical, "Emile" includes the famous profession of faith of the Savoyard Vicar (book IV), which provides valuable information on the religious ideas of Rousseau. it wanted to be a model to introduce young people to religious questions.
André is categorically opposed to these religious ideas developed by Rousseau in this precise extract, which he considers to be devoid of common sense and reason.
