Revision of the Geneva Bible which was carried out at the request of the Walloon Protestant Churches while David Martin, originally from the southwest of France, was in exile following the revocation of the Edict of Nantes.
What will become the Martin Bible will be published for the first time in 1707 in Utrecht and will serve as the basis for the revision of Ostervald.
"From the 19th century, Bible societies located in France, Switzerland, England and America will help spread Martin's Bible widely throughout the world. Martin's version is carefully crafted, and his notes have far exceeded those by Desmarets (which had been in vogue for a long time). Many readers (including Adolphe Monod) preferred the version of "Martin" to that of Ostervald. In "Martin" there was strength, simplicity, more flavor and energy. Other readers (Encontre for example) find it more consistent with the originals and better matched with the English, Dutch and German versions, the styling is superior "(lauragais - patrimoine . fr)
