Louis Abel de Bonafous, a Jesuit priest, became a writer when his order was banned in 1773, under the name of Abbé Fontenay.
The Antilogies are a collection of contradictory arguments, often used to demonstrate paradoxes or to question certain dogmatic assertions. This work is typical of the way in which certain authors of the 18th century, particularly during the Enlightenment, questioned established truths and rigid systems of thought.
The Antilogies had a certain influence in the philosophical circles of its time, because of its innovative approach to logic and theology.

Epistolary fiction told in the form of letters exchanged between a Chinese, Hoang, and a European. It is a social and philosophical critique that highlights the absurdities of European society through the eyes of a foreign character, a process often used by the Enlightenment to offer an external perspective on the customs and beliefs of the time. The last volume contains the author's philosophical dreams in which he develops several political utopias.

Work by Jean-Dominique Cassini (known as Cassini IV) who wrote this manual the day after his trip to Italy in 1775.
Cassini regretted that most authors on Italy sometimes digressed without having left their salons. On the contrary, he wanted to offer a practical manual for travelers:
"this little work, whose sole purpose is to be useful to travelers. It teaches the routes, warns of obstacles; indicates the means; teaches what is to be seen, what can be neglected." (extract from the preface).

Second edition.
Presentation copy to John Ray (Raïus latinized form).
A founding work of botanical science in France.
This second edition only includes the first part of the original edition, entitled Projet de l'Histoire des plantes. Denis Dodart sets out the framework for one of the great designs of the young Royal Academy of Sciences: the creation of a History of Plants, an exhaustive catalogue of plant species.
At the same time, in 1674, the British naturalist John Ray (1607-1725) complained to the scientific community about having to consult and combine a multitude of publications for a simple study, calling for a catalogue of all known plants. These Memoirs constitute the first step, the master plan in a way, and the work is today considered the founding work of botanical science in France.
