Joseph Raulin (1708-1784) doctor, who is also known for his work on obstetrics was commissioner and general inspector of mineral waters. He will notably publish a very beautiful work listing French mineral waters.
Here his recommendations for Pougues mineral waters. The mineral water of Pougues-les-eaux was sold continuously from 1768 to 1971 and made the fortune of this small village in the Nièvre.

Meeting of three rare works on the analysis of mineral waters around L'Aigle (Saint-Santin, Gauville, Irai ...).
The mineral waters of Saint-Santin were discovered in 1598 and met with some success in the 17th century, then were forgotten. The progress of 18th century chemistry led two doctors from L'Aigle to dispute their analysis and try to promote their therapeutic interest, but the mineral waters of the country of L'Aigle will again fall into oblivion.
A very good copy.

This book is intended for the medicine of the poor, giving simple and inexpensive remedies to achieve. In the preamble there is also a list of simple to use with their prices of the time.
The original edition published in Orleans has become rare.

Jean-François-Xavier Pugnet (1765-1846) was a French military doctor who distinguished himself during the Egyptian campaign, first at the Rosette hospital and then at Cairo where he was confronted with the plague. He then went to the West Indies to study yellow fever and compare it to Levant fevers.
He compiles his observations from 1802, here the most complete edition plus the part on Saint Lucia.
The folding plate takes up a low relief collected in Egypt in a tomb representing the fertilization of the Earth by the Sun.

Roger Cotes (1682-1716) was an English mathematician, closed to Isaac Newton with whom he shared the discovery of the Newton-Cotes method of numerical analysis, which generally extended the trapezoidal method and Simpson's method for calculating integrals.
This book was first published posthumously in 1738 under the title "Hydrostatical and Pneumatic Lectures", and it contains the first French translation of Newton's scale of degrees of heat, his law of cooling.
