Henri François le Dran (1685-1770) remains famous for having perfected the methods and instruments for lithotomies, which consisted in reducing urinary stones to pieces in order to evacuate them from the bladder.

Followed by the "Continuation of the Parallel of the different ways of extracting the stone which is in the urinary bladder", Paris, Veuve Delaguette, 1756

The 6th plate of the first booklet (bearing the date 1749) comes, as we sometimes see, supplementing the original edition a posteriori.

Very nice edition for the Club des Cinquante illustrated by 6 original watercolors signed by the painter Michel Bertrand (1935-2009).
Michel Bertrand will turn two years later to contemporary art in which he will experience some success. Catherine Millet will classify him among the major artists of the Montpellier region alongside Gérard Garouste and Vincent Bouliès. Six of his works are part of the collections of the Center Georges Pompidou.

Quite fascinating historiographical work on the French climate since the Gauls until the XIXth century.
One of the final chapters entitled "The action of meteorological phenomena and the human industry as causes of changes in our climate" sounds like a strange echo 150 years before the IPCC reports.

Songbook for the Ombres a Polytechnique evening in 1902

"Les Ombres" is a traditional performance by the École Polytechnique, the first edition of which was given in 1818. It involved the projection of satirical chineese shadows onto scenes from the life of the school and its teachers. Each projection was accompanied by a song, most often irreverent, written and sung by the students.

The Parisian group of the École Polytechnique was created in 1895 but still remains in activity today under the acronym GPX, it aims to "maintain and strengthen the bonds of camaraderie between the members of the polytechnic community. that organizing most of its events in the Paris region, the GPX welcomes all polytechnicians, regardless of their place of residence, as well as members of their family and close friends. " (site of the AX).

The Program for the Spring meeting (May 14, 1902) of the Parisian Group of the École Polytechnique, of which the Séance des Ombres des Vieux Antiques was only the 6th part - booklet (200x125 mm), 4 pages. Adorned with a Charles Pillet medallion.

Album created by Jacques Duboin, volunteered during the First World War, in 1917 he was appointed chief of maintenance service for the Special Artillery (then in the 81st Heavy Artillery Regiment, then in the general staff of the 500th 'Special Artillery). He is therefore a privileged witness to the deployment of the first French tanks which were part of these regiments.
Of the 75 photos in the album, we note in particular:
- 26 photos of tank maneuvers where we can recognize the Saint-Chamond and Schneider CA1 models as well as the wreckage of a Renault tank which exploded on a minefield.
- Various photos of medal ceremonies and review of the troops.
- 3 photos of the Hungarian prison camps in Ligny en Barrois.
- 4 cyanotypes of a diorama representing tanks.

Snapshots probably taken near the end of the conflict.
