Claude Pouteau (1724-1775) was a surgeon who practiced at the Hôtel-Dieu in Lyon.
He brings many observations on cancer and he is the first to describe the fracture of the lower end of the radius with posterior tilt published several decades before the description given by Abraham Colles, called the Pouteau-Colles fracture in France (and only Colles fracture outside France).

"The name of the tuscan physician Angelo Gatti has been closely linked to the practice and promotion of the inoculation for smallpox. Before Jenner discoveries about vaccine, this medical technique was the only way to prevent an endemic and deadly disease like smallpox.
