First edition.
Staff course given by Lieutenant Colonel Nudant at the Ecole Supérieure de Guerre for the year 1911-1912.
He was promoted to Brigadier General during the First World War and Foch said of him: "I loved this poor Nudant. put in all the sauces and all the sauces it was good!”
Very interesting document for understanding the organization of the French army on the eve of 14-18.
An exceptional document is attached: Examination copy of the student "Captain Bichot" on which he must write a fictitious "Secret Instruction" to give the maneuver signal perhaps during a wargame. Another hand corrects it in pencil and indicates: “Very clear, very clear TB”.

First edition.
Rare booklet probably published by Antide Janvier in which he reproduces the minutes of a session of the Academy of Sciences in which Delambre acts as rapporteur for the reading of his work: "Revolutions of the Celestial Bodies by the Mechanism of the Cogs ". Janvier adds some comments in footnotes in which we sense his bitterness that the Institute did not judge his book worthy of being sent to universities for study. He is saddened that they preferred to give four thousand francs to the miller Girardot for his uranographic machine. Janvier was one of the most brilliant watchmakers of his time, famous in particular for his spheres and planetaries.

Handwritten course in Latin probably given in a Jesuit college (the patronage of St. Louis de Gonzague is repeated many times), in the first half of the 18th century. The manuscript is part of the tradition of Aristotelian and Thomistic philosophy which was taught in seminaries and theological faculties in the form of a Compendium mixing physics and metaphysics. The first volume is devoted to metaphysics and logic, including the schemata of Aristotelian categories. The second volume, devoted to physics, is divided into four treatises (on the senses, bodies, movement, gravity) and finally a chapter on meteors.

In 1857, he was appointed to lecture in pharmacology and toxicology at the University of Ghent (Faculty of Medicine). In 1870, he exchanged his pharmacology courses for internal medicine courses. The writer, Cyrille Van Cauwenberghe, left his signature at the head of the book. The course details the different formulations of medications and their therapeutic uses. Noteworthy is a long chapter on rye ergot, used as an abortive substance.

Original manuscript in French.
This manuscript reproduces the course given by Jean Astruc (1684-1766), who held the chair of medicine at the Collège royal from 1731.
This teaching on abdominal diseases, from hiccups to hemorrhoids, was never published by Astruc. However, several manuscript copies are known under the title Traité des Maladies du bas ventre.
The medical content of our manuscript is identical to the digitized copies of the BIU Santé (Ms 2116) and the Collège de France (XV 8° 375). Most of the chapter headings are similar, although there are some differences in the structure (some chapters are grouped together, others are separated).
Finally, our copy extends to the question of hemorrhoids, which is absent from the Ms2116 manuscript (present in that of the Collège de France), but omits the question of intestinal worms, which are usually found in this course (present in both aforementioned manuscripts).
On the front flyleaf, the following handwritten ex libris is found: "hic liber attinet ad me Lagilardo" (or Lagilardie?).

Descartes considered the human body to be a material machine, directed by a rational soul.
He conceived its functioning based solely on the laws of mechanics, without incorporating metaphysical principles that could not be verified by experiment.
Nearly four centuries later, in the era of transhumanism, this "Traité de l'Homme" has aroused renewed interest in the fields of neuroscience and cognitive science.

They depict the principal monuments of antiquity—the Colosseum, the Pantheon, temples, columns, aqueducts, thermal baths, and paintings recently discovered at Herculaneum—some with their plans and bas-relief details.
Several etchings reveal the influence of Piranesi, with whom Barbault collaborated for a time.
The collection presents a true archaeological inventory.
The French painter and engraver Jean Barbault, born in Vienna near Beauvais around 1705, received a scholarship from the Academy of Fine Arts to study in Rome in 1749.
After graduating from the Academy in 1753, he decided not to return to France due to lack of funds and remained in Italy until his death in 1766.
