First edition. After experimental aerodynamic tests obtained by free fall from the second floor of the tower he had built on the Champ de Mars in Paris, Gustave Eiffel had a wind tunnel built there in 1909. It was moved to Auteuil in 1912 and is still in operation today, operated by the company Aérodynamic Eiffel. This aerodynamics laboratory was used in particular to test the characteristics of Farman military biplanes which were used during the First World War.
