First edition. Joseph Delbœuf (1831-1896) was a Belgian psychologist and mathematician. His work focused on the philosophy of science, psychophysics, and hypnosis. This work is a philosophical study of the foundations of geometry, which seeks to solve geometric postulates. The book also includes a translation, made by Delbœuf himself, of a dissertation on the same subject by the German author Friedrich Ueberweg.
