Édouard Goursat (1858-1936), a member of the Institute and professor at the Faculty of Sciences of Paris, was a renowned French mathematician, known for his work in analysis and partial differential equations. His Cours d'Analyse Mathématique (Course in Mathematical Analysis) is a classic and highly influential textbook on analysis, widely used in French higher education and translated into several languages.
