Walther Ritz (1878-1909) was a Swiss theoretical physicist, famous for his contributions to spectroscopy (Ritz formula) and integral equations. His Gesammelte Werke (Collected Works), published posthumously in 1911 by the Swiss Physical Society, brings together his work on mechanics, electron theory, and his contributions to mathematical physics. Ritz is particularly known for the Ritz-Galerkin principle, a method for solving partial differential equations.
