Jules Tannery (1848-1910) was a French mathematician and philosopher, professor at the Sorbonne and deputy director of the École Normale Supérieure. Brother of the philosopher of science Paul Tannery, Jules was an influential educator, having trained many important mathematicians. This work, "Science and Philosophy," is a compilation of his posthumous writings, with an introductory note written by Émile Borel (1871-1956), one of his illustrious students and himself an eminent mathematician.
