"It is through lime that the Author discovered this general principle innate in all bodies, & which is its true elementary principle, this principle which constitutes fatty acid or acidum pingue substance known to the ancient chymists, [. ..] which defines it as a singular being & composed of a particular acid & of the matter of fire, & from which, according to him, all other acids derive.
