First edition in french of these work on light. Paper first published in the Edimburgh Encyclodepia" in 1827 under the title "Light", in which Herschel correctly considered astigmatism to be due to irregularity of the cornea and theorised that vision could be improved by the application of some animal jelly contained in a capsule of glass against the cornea.
At the end of part 2, there's a supplement from Quetelet on the recent discovery on light.
