Henri Villat (1879-1972) was a leading French mathematician and fluid mechanician, a member of the Institute and professor at the Sorbonne, director of the Institute of Fluid Mechanics in Paris, and professor at the École Nationale Supérieure d'Aéronautique. His 'Mécanique des fluides' (Fluid Mechanics) is an essential textbook for teaching hydrodynamics and aerodynamics.
