First edition. Charles Fabry (1867-1945), a member of the Institute and professor at the École Polytechnique, was a leading French physicist, known for his work on interferometry (Fabry-Pérot interferometer) and photometry. H Photometry is a fundamental discipline in astronomy (for determining the brightness of stars) and in physics. Observing that celestial photometry and that of physicists developed independently of each other, using vocabulary and units with nothing in common, Fabry aims in this work to explain the principles of both sciences and to indicate the link between the modes of expression they employ.
