Girard Desargues (1591-1661) was a French mathematician and architect, considered one of the founders of projective geometry. The author, Noël Germinal Poudra (1803-1894), was a senior staff officer and former student of the École Polytechnique, and a historian of mathematics. This work is a compilation of Desargues's writings, which had been lost and rediscovered in the 19th century. It includes a new biography of Desargues, an analysis of his writings, and rare documents published against him.
