Jean-Marie Constant Duhamel (1797-1872) was a French mathematician and physicist, member of the Academy of Sciences, known for his work on mechanics and the application of calculus to physical problems. This work, published posthumously (the first edition dating from 1845), stems from his long-standing teaching at the École Polytechnique and the École Centrale.
