First edition of this astronomy classic, based on the lectures Delambre gave for six years at the Collège de France. The first volume contains descriptions of instruments, trigonometry, and spherical astronomy; the second deals with elliptical motion, the different celestial systems, the formation of astronomical tables, and eclipses. Finally, the last volume is devoted to the apparent motions of the planets, satellites, nautical astronomy, and the calendar.
