First edition. Jean Dieudonné (1906-1996) was a French mathematician.
He entered the École Normale Supérieure at the age of 18. He graduated top of his class in the agrégation examination in 1927. He received a scholarship from Princeton University, followed by one from the Rockefeller Foundation.
In December 1934, he participated in the founding of the Bourbaki group, of which he was a driving force for many years.
