4to (253x195 mm), frontispiece, (18)-820-(20) pages, 8 plates and one geneological chart.  binding : Contemporary full speckled calf, spine gilt in six compartments, title in gilt on lettering-piece, red edges. One corner and one cap chipped. Minor rubbings. Important tear on pages 287-288 (in two parts but complete).

Important book for the History of Medecine, at the 18th century, by Daniel Le Clerc (1652-1728), who is known as a pioneer in this field.

references: Heirs of Hippocrates [682 : "Preceded only by the works of S. Champier and M. Donati in the sixteenth century, this was the most complete and reliable work on the history of medicine to follow and may still be consulted with profit. The first edition was published in 1696 and, after the second edition had been exhausted. Le Clerc found it expedient to write a third edition, which he updated to the middle of the seventeenth century"].
